Respect the West – Community Action Portal
On November 19th, 2006 the Sunshine Resident and Ratepayers Association brought together a number of community action groups from the western suburbs for the Stop the Neglect of the West rally. Following the success of the rally, the groups agreed to form an alliance of action groups to fight entrenched neglect by successive State and Federal Governments.
Respect the West is a slogan originally coined by Les Twentyman for his 2008 Kororoit byelection tilt at State politics.
With Les’ blessing Stop N .O.W. changed its name to Respect the West which is now both a community movement with a goal to addressing long-standing neglect of Melbourne’s western suburbs, and an emerging community advocacy group.

Surely a campaign has to be launched to save Errington Reserve from that rabble of a council

There is a campaign, though no one group seems to have taken leadership.
It will be interest to monitor what happens in coming weeks!
